Filming Process

For Katie, Oscar, Kerri Ann and I's news story, we decided to take a closer look at the progress of the new skate park in Manchester. My older brothers, Sam and Ian, use the skatepark a lot and most of my friends who skate go there as well. It sparked an interest in me and my friends due to our connections there, weather it was Oscar, who skates there himself, Katie, who's family in very involved in the new construction of the skatepark, Kerri Ann, who just wanted to be a part of our group, or myself, because my friends and family skate at the park very often. When we started filming, we started by filming the B-Roll of the skatepark. We took multiple shots from high surfaces and far away places so that you could get the full scene of the skate park. In order to get the full picture of the park, we wanted to have shots that included all of the features. The weather was sunny and nice so we did not need lights when interviewing our first person, Oscar. Katie and I traveled to Vermont Academy in Saxons River in order to get a leaders point of view on the new skatepark. Katie's uncle John was very helpful when it came to helping us understand the process and the hard work that goes into getting the new skatepark.

News Story Pitch

My original news story pitch was regarding the process of building and fundraising for the new skatepark. I am glad I got to follow through with my vision and see how it played out.
